Our Programs

Concord Equestrian Center (CEC) has operated as a full-service competitive Hunter/Jumper show training stable and riding academy in Del Mar Horsepack for over 15 years. Owner and head trainer, Mark Conley, lived and trained in Del Mar for three years after having retired from the stable he ran in Texas for six years in order to move to California to be closer to his mother and family.

This year CEC is please to be offering new community outreach programs. In addition to organizing a Thursday morning session for women, we are also offering field trip and pony ride programs. We hope to attain our 501c3 status by the middle of 2010 so that we can offer discounted and free programs to groups and individuals in San Diego county who would not otherwise be able to connect to the equine spirit.

In addition to formal riding lesson and training programs we offer our regular clients clinics, pony play days and we organize many barn event to encourage our students to spend additonal time with each other and the horses in a controlled environment. Our emphasis is on developing equestrians that are balanced as riders and competitors as well as companions and caretakers of their mounts. We also like to encourage a sense of community and teamwork with all our students. Our older students are often offered mentoring and leadership roles that help them gain confidence in their abilities through teaching others.

Concord Equestrian Center uses a classical dressage basis in a comprehensive program meant to develop the most successful partnerships possible between a horse and rider. We do not utilize training "quick-fix" tools but rather believe in the careful development of the horse's mental and physical capabilities. Likewise we do not rush the rider into riding at an ability beyond their readiness and instead offer patient steady guidance through the development of their skill sets as well as physical capabilities. Each rider is worked with individually according to their age and ability, from the age of 4 through mature adult.

We feel that knowing more about the sport you are participating in will enhance your experience both on horseback and on the ground.
